Minneapolis Armory files, 1987-1993.

Correspondence, memoranda, newspaper clippings, reports and studies, maps, drawings, and miscellaneous papers documenting a struggle between the City of Minneapolis and the Hennepin County commissioners over whether to preserve or demolish the historic National Guard Armory Building in downtown Minneapolis. Hennepin County sought to demolish this Art Deco building and construct a new jail in its place. The city sought to have the structure preserved and converted to use as a downtown youth center and indoor park.
